Bais Medrash Govoha of Eretz Yisroel –
Yeshivas Lakewood in Yerushalayim

The Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Yaakov Eliezer Schwartman Shlita, established this baston of Torah excellence 40 years ago with a singular mission: to develop true Bnei Torah imbued with Ahavas Hatorah, in the footsteps of his illustrious grandfather, Moreinu Rav Aharon Kotler Zt”l

In the four decades since its inception, the Yeshiva has had over 3,000 Talmidim walk through its doors. They have learned the chashivus of Torah, dedicated their lives to Torah Lishmah and have spread the royalty of Torah life to their own families and communities, far and wide.

Today, it is located in the thriving Torah community of Ramot on the northeastern border of Yerushalayim. We have a beautiful multi-level building that houses two battei medrash, shiur rooms, a comfortable and spacious dormitory as well as an industrialized kitchen. The campus borders the beautiful Judean hills and is within walking distance of Kever Shmuel Hanavi. It was designed to create an environment perfect for iyun hatorah and spiritual inspiration enabling our talmidim to soar in their Avodas Hashem.

Beyond the building, is our devoted and caring staff, and in particular our Rosh Hayeshiva, Moreinu Harav Yaakov Eliezer Schwartman shlita. The Rabbbeim are present in the yeshiva from before shacharis until midnight. They are there to aid the bochurim in their learning skills, prepare them for the daily shiur or just to be their to listen and guide. They participate in the night seder as well, to help the talmidim retain, clarify, and internalize what was said during that day’s shiur.

Along with the gemara learning, we work to transform our talmidim into beautiful bnei torah by inculcating them with fundamental Torah hashkafos, as well as a deeper appreciation for limud Hatorah lishma.

The rabbeim invest an enormous amount of time and thought into their shiurim, making sure that the Torah should be sweet to their talmidim. They also come for Shabbosos and Yomim Tovim in order to demonstrate to the talmidim what Shabbbos and Yom Tov should look like, so that when the time comes for them to build their own homes, they will remember those beautiful days in Yeshiva along with their role models, and build their homes accordingly.

The Yeshiva currently has an enrollment of over 150 bochurim and avreichim who will continue to spread Torah to the next generation. Recently, the Yeshiva celebrated the completion of the building, including our new bais hamedrash and dormitory rooms to accommodate our expanded enrollment.
